Just purchased my first Honda Civic, it is a 98 DX Hatchback with an Automatic transmission. I am new to the Honda world and I am wondering what or if there are problems with the Honda Auto trannys? what should I look for and what should I be worried about. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well. If your gonna keep it stock your fine. Other then that they suck. I own one, I hate it. So I'm putting a turbo on it and taking bets to see how long it will last. :P Just don't do anything stupid with it such as netural bombing it. Also they ussually start to go around 100k or so.

I agree. 100k and that's it. I purchased a '97 HX with a CVT (which is really cool, I like it), but around 160k it started getting temperamental. I really didn't want to pay for a new one and I didn't want to swap it out for a manual. But thankfully I found a lightly used transmission that will be installed within a week or so. Now, I don't race my car, it's just for personal use. But it's still really annoying to be going 35 mph on streets and your transmission can't keep up.
