View Full Version : is this something i might need for my turbo application? SilverWrench 03-08-2008, 07:39 PM i'm turboing a d16z6 and i was wondering if i might need this to beef up the transmision http://pensacola.craigslist.org/pts/598506128.html dave_57204 03-09-2008, 04:28 AM If your still running on your stock cluch yes. Don't buy that one get a new one, please. RCJr9186 03-09-2008, 10:03 AM risky... for 100 bucks i'd say go ahead but... if it turns out to be crap, you won't realize it until you've already put it in. Don't buy that one get a new one, please. the trans was recently worked on and got a new clutch about 6 months ago RCJr9186 03-10-2008, 03:35 PM even with it being new... it won't last long under boost. i'd say you'll get mabey 4-6 months out of it before it starts slipping and that's driving pretty concervative. SovXietday 03-10-2008, 05:34 PM I say 4-6 pulls out of it. The stock clutch can't hold ****. arust45 03-10-2008, 07:28 PM Haha yeah, granted mine wasn't in the greatest condition to start with, I wore it smooth in a day. civic_burns_all 03-11-2008, 08:30 AM stock cluth with boost FTMFL!!! get a stage 1 clutch SilverWrench 03-11-2008, 02:26 PM this is going to be a daily driver incase that matters, what brands would you recommend? RCJr9186 03-12-2008, 06:23 AM ACT, Exedy, Clutchmaster, Centerforce, Fidanza. all of these will do just fine. get a street disk for the easiest engagement for a DD. arust45 03-12-2008, 06:29 PM Just got my clutch a couple of weeks ago. Its a custom clutch, but its very comparable to an ACT. 2000lb pressure plate, 4puck, sprung. You can get a clutch with a spring or unsprung. Sprung is more forgiving, whereas unsprung pops in hard. The 4 puck was a little difficult at first but i'm happy with it now because it grabs nicely and isn't too difficult to drive. I was under the impression that the stage doesnt matter, but the tolerance of the pressure plate. Is that incorrect? Also I had to replace my 10 year old clutch slave cylinder because the pressure plate was pushing back fluid. I don't know if that was a fluke or if you'll have to replace yours as well. RCJr9186 03-13-2008, 05:56 AM I was under the impression that the stage doesnt matter, but the tolerance of the pressure plate. Is that incorrect? technically, no. but different 'stages' from different companies are capable of handeling different powers and it also changes for different makes and moels. so if they say an ACT stage 2 for a DSM... they are pretty much talking about a ACT 2600 (from their series of 2300, 2600, and 2900) which will hold apx 400hp. so, no, the stage doesn't matter, but if you know the companies and each power rating for each of their 'stages' than you can identify how much power they will be able to hold. |
