Default K&N Filter Selection for SRI

I've decided to go with a SRI for my 95 EX coupe since I already have the full header and catback going. It rains a lot here, and I'd like to be able to change my air filter without pulling the fender off, so I've determined that a SRI makes more sense for me. I ordered the following kit:

I figure that I will install this, then gauge how much space I have, and then order the largest K&N filter that will fit in the space, along with the foam sleeve. Sound like a plan?

What kind of K&N top is best: metal, rubber, or x-flow? And why?
