i was just saying i dont think speeding should be a five to ten year jail sentence. I can undersand tickets and lossing your license, but i cant justify that long in jail.

So you don't think it's a fair punishment and that makes it a violation of rights?  Does that mean that any punishment that I think is unfair is against our rights?

this thread fails......

no rights are being violated anyone who thinks that is just looking for something to bitch about..its quite simple dont drive like a dumbass and it wont happen to you....its easy....is it really worth going through all that just to go a little faster....and i can find tons of statistics provign that speed kills more people than drunk drivers do.....

but go ahead and drive like a dumbass and ill be there to jump in the lane right ahead of you so you swerve or hit me ;)  either way you lose

If you think violating a basic traffic law deserves ten years in prison then no there is no violation of our rights. However when you can get  lesser harsh penalties for doing other serious crimes such are robbery, dwi, dui, theft than speeding, there is a problem.

You know what, I have done it. I certainly went 80mph in a highway. Im sure a lot of people done it too. Doesn't mean
that we are all criminals and that we need to rot in prison for 10 years with murderers, rapists, theives and all that.

You are gonna lose 10 years of your life in jail because you drove 80mph in a free way. You are gonna go apply for a job and say you served jail time and they are gonna ask you what you did. And you are gonna tell them  oh I drove 30mph over the speed limit, im a criminal. Are you kidding me, you dont think thats cruel and unsual punishment?

I mean I understand there are certain laws we think its unfair but in reality they are not. But this certainly not a case for that.

Actually you fail because you certainly have no clue what right is being violated, and you are just saying pulling crap out of your behind.

If you actually understood the argument, its not about where speeding deserve harsher punishments than dwi or not. Its actually about the certain law that is passed in florida is violating the right for us to be protected from "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

-Amendment VIII

Oh ok, I agree with that.  However, I do not see it as a violation of rights.  And crimes that have sentences of "up to" does not necessarily mean you would be getting that much jail time.

true, but why would they pass that if they were not planning out convicting someone of that?
