I have small scratches all over the hood of my '00 black EX.  Since they go all different directions I just thought it was from stuff on the road.  A guy I work with looked at it and said that they were small heat cracks.  These are new to me, do I need to have the entire hood repainted or am I able to do some kind of touch up?

hes right it might be heat cracks. Do you have the stock exhaust mani without the heat shield on or an aftermarket header. If so i have seen that happen to several cars. If that is the case you need the heat shield or wrap your header. In my opinion i would go ahead and have the whole hood repainted because just touching them up will not stop the cracks from spidering out more

my 00 ex has the same problem. I was either going to get it entirely repainted or just buy a CF hood. My windshield has a similar problem. Like someone poured dirt all over the hood and windshield and it got all scratched up. There's thousands of little dots on the glass, but the hood has those "heat" cracks.

You really don't notice it unless you only focus on it so it's not a big deal. But since I KNOW about it, it will get fixed eventually.

Before going over the top and having a whole hood painted, try correcting the problem.

If its just normal spider webbing (marring) than you can probably fix it yourself.  Or, hire a good detailer to come over and take care of it.

All it should need is a good wash, claybar, some Cutting Polish (Start with a non-aggressive polish, and work your way up if need be), seal and Wax.
