Heat Shield

Well as some of you may know I recently got my Megan Racing header and was gonna install it but ran across a problem. When i was trying to take off the heat shield on my stock header the 3rd bolt (bottom of the heat shield) seems to be stripped and i tried using a combination wrench and socket wrench but it didn't work. Each time i tried to losen the bolt it would just strip it a lil more and not turn the bolt at all so i stopped. My question is what can i do to get the bolt off so i can finally install the damn thing. And yes I did use more than enough PB. I swear the easiest mods or installation always ends turning into something extra.

RE: Heat Shield

If you can get a dremel to it, grind the bolt head until you get two nice flat sides, until a wrench work on it again.

RE: Heat Shield

well if its striped already and your not gonna reuse the part.... just use a dremel or grinder or what not and grind the head off..... or drill the bolt out depends how much room ya got to work with....

i know on my old header i couldnt get the last shield bolt out from it being striped so i just yanked that sucker backwards enough so i could get to the head bolts to remove the whole thing as one piece.
it worked ;)

RE: Heat Shield

Also is the heat shield bolted on the car itself or on the header. Cuz if i can take the header and heat shield off in one piece than it would save me the extra time.
