Alright guys I just got my civic a few days ago.  I am satisfied with the mids and highs from the stock speakers, but I want more bass.  The sub is kind of a joke, it's muddy.  What would you guys suggest?  I was looking at some JL TR650-CSI or some focals.  Do the polk MMC6500's have good bass?  I am going to eventually add a sub also, but for now I want my door speakers to be able to hit without distorition.

Alpine Type-r's handle bass very well with little to no distortion.  I would recomennd a good amp to go with them though.....

6.5 's don't make "bass" play em down to bout 70 80hrz. Let your sub make the bass. from there down.

Are you using an amp for the speakers? try messing around with the eq. But speakers arent meant for bass so you might bust them. Id wait to get a sub

dude just get some alpine type-s speakers for the frond and band and a new stereo, you dont even need to run them to an amp they will hit hard and work fine off all the stock wiring and an aftermarket head unit will hand them will great ease I use them along with an almani 1400 wat sub and 900 wat(750 constant) bridged amp.

Well I actually have a 12" rockford sub, but haven't put it in yet.  I was thinking about trying to get a custom box for the trunk.  Also I don't want to get a different head unit b/c I have a nav system.

Your front speakers should supply you with a great deal of bass. Your subwoofer, on the other hand, simply fills in with the deepest of frequencies that your front speakers cannot handle. Speakers alone will not play midbass. You must seal the rear wave front the rear wave. Read this tutorial:

Alright well if you had to choose from these three sets of speakers which would it be?  I am looking for as little distortion as possible.
Alpine Type R SPR-17C
JL TR650-CXi
Polk DB 651

what do you guys think?
