What are the consequences

What are the consequences for running without an air intake at all, no factory or after market? bad gas mileage?

X2. The filter is there for a reason.

No man, when designing the car, this one guy goes "hey, this thing looks cool!" so they all agreed and decided to put it right there. It doesn't do anything. LOL
Alright, kidding.

Yeah, it wouldn't be wise to drive it without a filter. Who knows what's getting sucked into the engine without it.

why are you asking this?
are you planning on, or currently running, without an air intake system?

RE: What are the consequences

i have an air filter, i just dont have the tube that comes off. i bought the car like this and i was wondering if that could be a good cause for getting sucky gas mileage.

Well I'm pretty sure that the air up by the throttle body is hotter than the air by where the filter would be at the end of a tube. I think that the heat would give worse gas mileage.

I don't know if its all in my head or not but it seems like my car is more responsive when i first start it then when its been running for 10 minutes or so, so i am thinking its cause of this.

RE: What are the consequences

If it's running best when the engine is still cold, then it's probably because of the heat. Get an intake tube, fast.

Just go to autozone and buy their short ram intake. It's cheap andit works perfectly fine and you won't risk harming your engine.
