Default Yup, it's broke.

Just some pictures from when me and a friend took apart the tranny of his 96 Talon TSi. Yes, it is making alot more power than stock.

Looks fine here.

Oh now I pull the center diff and take a look.

See I always thought the intermediate shaft was supose to have teeth.

Ahh ****, third gear is missing some teeth too.

Hmm I think those down there kinda by the front diff might belong to the intermediate shaft, maybe?

Wait, look I found a small bit of the center diff. welded into part of the case.

Conclusion, Yup its broke

Ya, it be broke. What happened in there? Jeez... there is metal shavings all in there.
Those shavings had to do some fudging up.

The other week I got to see what it was like inside my auto tranny (the mech was saying hondas are more intricate and complicated and their size is pretty small compared to most trannys) and I was blown back how many kenetics were involed. Like, eventually after staring at it trying to understand how it completly works my head started hurting. I just got done BARELY understanding a cut out model of a 66 mustang and that jap tranny was a completly different animal.

On my old Accord i blew a hole right threw the tranny. was driving on the highway i let of the gas to slow down and when i hit it again i heard a huge bang then when i pulled over oil was dumping out. when we took it out later there was 3 holes in it the biggist was about 2" wide and about 3" long i looked like maybe a bold had fallen of inside and trashed the tranny... anyway that made me think of that.........

i heard a valve train noise last year at the track in my old V8 car...and it was elims..so i decided that i was gonna run anyway...i dont have pictures..but i still have the shattered roller rocker, the broken pushrods, and the broken rocker shaft...[&o]

i still managed a 1.75 60'...but when i got to 3rd gear..it all came apart...running through at a 14.50@ something like 60mph....luckily i trailer it to the track for just such an occassion....

7s, did that hurt anything else in the drivetrain? and what was that TSi running? my home track had a guy with a 1st gen in the mid 8s...he now has an all bolt on/bolt off evo..running 11 flat...

I don't think it hurt anything else, but I'm not positive. I'll check with him on that. As for what it runs, low low 12s.

very nice...!

there is a shop near my old track that built some healthy DSMs and SRT4s...but theyre not personable toward non-DSM/SRT owners...so i dont bother with them...one kid tried to tel me that his SRT4 ran 10s..."in canada, but it will only run high 12s here..because its hotter, and closer to the equater" they wont talk to the guys with hondas, even fast ones, because "they are ricers"..meanwhile..half of them dump a ton of cash into body work and TVs for their 16 second talons...
