View Full Version : Gas Mileage
iNTRuDeR 04-29-2004, 12:53 PM With only 2 tankfull so far I'm getting a respectable 39 mpg.

That's quite a bit better than my x-Prizm.

But it's mostly highway so far and I'm not jumping on it at all,

so it will change.

but still impressive.

Roentgen 04-29-2004, 01:27 PM That is really good gas mileage for any car. What year and model do u have (DX, LX, or EX)?
outsider 04-29-2004, 02:49 PM yeah, what year and model?

best I've ever gotten is 36.

green98lxsedan 04-29-2004, 03:30 PM i forgot to check milage at my first fill up. but it seems to be a little better so far on the first tank i put in than the dealer fill. but i didnt have the cai on for the first tank. and not its runnin on mobil not some cheap gasthe dealer prob put in.
outsider 04-29-2004, 04:35 PM what effect did the CAI have on your gas mileage?
polo708 04-29-2004, 04:53 PM My Corolla (04') says it gets 40mpg but im getting closer to 30ish, probably because im always racing with u civic drivers, haha
green98lxsedan 04-29-2004, 06:03 PM what effect did the CAI have on your gas mileage?

ImportKid 05-02-2004, 04:42 PM once u get the sc polo u should smoking civics
lilol89crx 05-02-2004, 05:16 PM i get roughly 42 city and 47 hwy,, but im also rolling in the most underpowered widest geared honda of all time.
polo708 05-03-2004, 07:09 AM once u get the sc polo u should smoking civics

U guys are always the funnest! I never know what Im getting into. Sometimes I'll line-up to some ricer punk and smoke him like nothing, then I'll f* up and find me a civi with a T4 turbo! I hate that.

ZzZzz EH2 05-03-2004, 10:40 AM i dont get much on 550cc's in the hatch bizzzack
slim11420 05-03-2004, 07:12 PM know the feeling zzzzz. gas pedal to the floor most of the time probably doesnt help much either. oh well though....you dont build a fast car for gas milage....itsa small sacrifice to make.
blackpearl169 05-04-2004, 10:08 PM I'm getting about 31mpg in my 04 SI...87 octane...
polo708 05-05-2004, 06:14 AM yeah its hard with a vtec engine. Id run it off every light
iNTRuDeR 05-06-2004, 09:23 AM Sorry it took so long to respond.

I'm running the stock 04 Civic LX,

4 speed Auto. After a few tanks it's still up at 39 mpg.

But I have a light foot since this is primarily a commuter car,

and with these gas prices

Roentgen 05-06-2004, 09:32 AM Yeah gas prices now are outrageous. Where I live it's not so bad compared to national prices but paying upwards of $1.70 for regualar grade is uncalled for.
green98lxsedan 05-06-2004, 12:01 PM well i have not had to fill up the civic yet so the milage must be pretty good. with my old work/winter car i was filin up every week. but it was a 6er. gas preices are crazy here too. 1.75for the cheap sh*t. last nite fillin up the stang i paid 2.10 for premium. the chip might be coming out of that soon so i can run regular if it gets much higher. but i guess when it only gets drive 2 times a week for a few miles its not that bad. only fill up every 3 weeks or so.
outsider 05-06-2004, 12:58 PM you think $1.70 is uncalled for? I would love if I could get regular for $1.70.

Try $2.11 for regular. One station I drove by was $2.21, and there were actually cars stopping to fill-up

ZzZzz EH2 05-06-2004, 01:12 PM 1.93 here in cincinnati.

IF IT HITS 2 BUCKS ILL GET ON THE BUS.

green98lxsedan 05-06-2004, 02:39 PM almost time to bust out the ole rollerblades or somethin

iNTRuDeR 05-07-2004, 07:40 PM Look for your area at www.gasbuddy.com (http://www.gasbuddy.com)

They have local posting and state wide posting of prices.

And they are generally very current too.

I'm on www.NewHampshireGasPrices.com (http://www.NewHampshireGasPrices.com), www.MaineGasPrices.com (http://www.MaineGasPrices.com) and sometimes on other NewEngland sites,

watch out for the iNTRuDeR.

outsider 05-08-2004, 12:48 AM well, it has reached a new high here in Oregon. Today I saw $2.29 for regular.

Oh well, still cheaper than Europe.

green98lxsedan 05-08-2004, 08:44 AM ahhhhhh that sux. we hit 1.95 for reg 2 days ago.but u know this aint gona change my drivin habits. itll jsut mean less beer money.
Importman04 05-08-2004, 02:59 PM with my celeberty i am getting the same gas mileage as i was when i had my monte carlo, and its sucks cause it a 4 banger and the monte was a higly modified street car
green98lxsedan 05-08-2004, 03:05 PM my civic is kick ass on milage over my old 85 buick century wagon. and its not embarrasingto drive like the wagon was. guess i should have posted a pic of the wagon in the pic thread. its still sittin in the garage waitin to go to a scrap yard
outsider 05-09-2004, 11:58 AM I've adjusted my driving a little. I still commute to work 5 days a week, but now I sit at home instead of going out on weeknights. But, that's why I have the nice sound system, TV, Playstation, etc.

To be honest, I really don't mind paying that much for gas. What really bothers me is the fact that when gas prices go up, the cost of everything else does, too.

blackpearl169 05-09-2004, 01:25 PM I drive 80 miles round trip to work 5 days a week...so at $1.98 for 87 octane now, it's pretty bad...but compared to my old 72 Buick Skylark, I'm in heaven...
lilol89crx 05-09-2004, 03:38 PM damn its like 1.74 here and thats costco gas. at the moment i will run the costco sh*t being its like 10cents cheaper. i remember when gas was 95 cents.......ah memories. but yall know what. these big v8 boys maybe hatin on our hondas and 4cyl in general, but i wanna see how far they can get on 4 gallons of gas. they can kiss my ass cause i can drive just under 200 miles on that
green98lxsedan 05-09-2004, 07:38 PM hell yea i remember when i was in highschool and gas went up to $1.25 everyone thought it was the end of the world.

i figured the civic is gettin around 30 or so. beats my old wagon.

as far as 4 gallons of gas i cant get that far in the damn stang. but its a weekend car anyway so a tank of gas will last a while. im makin it last even longer now too.

green98lxsedan 05-09-2004, 07:39 PM oh yea and my cars get nothin but mobil gas. one time there was no mobil around so the stang had to settle for amoco/bp. 87 civic, 92 stang
outsider 05-09-2004, 08:44 PM damn, black, I feel sorry for you. 400 miles a week. I don't even want to add up how much that costs ya. But you're right though, it'd be much worse in your old Buick.
green98lxsedan 05-09-2004, 10:29 PM i used to drive 500 miles a week a few years ago when i had my jeep grand che. that sucked ass. i was fillin up every 2 days. but the good thing was i got paid 36.5 cents a mile for work so i was makin like $1000 a month in reimbusement checks. the worst part was it just racked up the miles on the jeep. when i bought it in 99 and it was a 93 it had 30000 miles. when i traded for the stang in 02 it had 150000. that sucked ass i loved that jeep
outsider 05-09-2004, 11:59 PM I used to have a '91 Chevy Blazer, so I know just how good/bad your mileage was in an SUV. There are some things I miss about having an SUV, but not enough to make me buy one again.
green98lxsedan 05-10-2004, 05:50 PM aahhhhhh damn dude we broke $2 for regular today. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
green98lxsedan 05-10-2004, 05:51 PM unfortinatley the old lady has a 4runner so that thing sucks on gas. we take that in the winter and the civic or the stang in summer now.
blackpearl169 05-10-2004, 09:44 PM I wish I had it as good as you had it green98lxsedan with the reimbusment checks...I'm a graphic designer, so I have to drive to where those jobs are, in the city and stuff...I have 6,000 on my new SI and I dread putting on more...
outsider 05-11-2004, 01:12 AM black-

do you work on contract? if so, you might be able to right off your miles driven on your taxes. it'snot much, but every little bit helps.

goredrocket 05-25-2004, 08:49 AM i can fill up with 16 bucks. that's ****ing sweet with gas 2 dollars a gallon
2.50 in nor cal. [:@] I'm just glad i don't drive an suv (a lot).
NYC Civic 06-08-2004, 04:39 AM I'm not sure how many mpg I'm getting from my 2002 Civic EX but even with the $2.45 a gallon here, $22 last me a week. It's definitely much better than what I'm getting from my Prelude. With my Civic now, I don't drive it hard. It's a daily driven car but I drive it normal.
hondaholic9 06-11-2004, 08:00 AM Im gettin about 35 in my EG 1.5 LSi. Thats not bad with all the bootin it about I do!
And I dunno wot U guys are complainin about fuel prices for!!! Over here a standard litre of Unleaded is around 84 pence! Thats just over a dollar to you I think. Imagine that. JUST OVER A DOLLAR FOR ONE LITRE OF FUEL!!!!!!!! [:'(]
polo708 06-11-2004, 09:40 AM HA! got u beat, gas here in Italy is 1.05 Euro for 1 litre. Thats about 1.25/litre...
hondaholic9 06-11-2004, 11:42 AM I thought the pound was stronger than the Euro??? That would make 1.25 Euros around 85p which is around the same.
Still its nik nakingly expensive!!! [>:]
the_reptilian 06-11-2004, 06:55 PM I just got a 01 1.7L Automatic Civic LX with 20,000 miles on it. I took the Civic on its first long trip to NC this week. While running 70 to 75 mph with the A/C blasting I got 41mpg going and 39mpg coming back.
civicvtecpwr 06-20-2004, 12:05 AM i have a 2002 Ford ranger and i get 32 if i shift at 3 grand..other wise about 20
