Voiding Warranty
Does anyone have any words of wisdom on a cat-back exhaust that wont void my warranty or why it would void it. or should i just go with a new muffler. i am more geared to dressing it up versus performance. i have a brand new 08 lx w/AT sedan

RE: Voiding Warranty
A catback will NOT void your warranty. Tens of thousands of new car owners upgrade their wheels, exhaust, and even intake systems without a problem. If anyone tells you otherwise, refer them to this:

RE: Voiding Warranty
Well, regarding that "act"
doesn't it only apply if, say, the dealership says "your aftermarket exhaust caused your seatbelts to fail, therefore your warranty is void."? I believe that is, in fact, the case. Now if your aftermarket exhaust does somehow cause a problem related to the exhaust system of the car I do believe it voids your warranty with regards to the exhaust system. That act only protects you from the dealership voiding your entire warranty. |
RE: Voiding Warranty
Think about it: What other component could a cat-back system possibly affect negatively? You are correct in saying that the dealership cannot deny a warranty claim for something totally unrelated to the aftermarket part, but let's face it, a catback system is completely passive. I think what cagekicker is worried about is that a dealership might deny coverage for say, a bad power steering pump, just because cagekicker installed a catback.
That would be illegal and the dealership would always lose any court decision regarding that matter. |
