ABS and After Market Rims - 4/14/2008 11:17:50 PM    hkhan45   Posts: 3 Joined: 4/14/2008 Status: offline Hello All, I bought a 2008 Honda Civic 1.8 i-VTEC and would like to upgrade the stock rims and tyres from 195-65-15" 91H to either 205-45-17" or 215-45-17".The width of the Rim is 8". Would the upgrade have any effect on ABS ? Kindly need some guidance on the upgrade. Thanks in Advance. Post #: 1

With that, your speedometer will say 60mph, for example, and you will actually be going 56.3mph. 205/45-17 will make it read 2.9% too fast. (60mph speedo reading=58.3mph real speed) 215/45-17 will make it read 1.4% too fast. (60mph speedo reading=59.1mph real speed) The 215/45-17 will make your speedometer barely off and I would go with that. But will 205-45-17 or 215-45-17 have any effect on the ABS. I have heard that larger wheels will interfere with the way ABS functions !!. Is it true ? what are the effects then ?
