the thinner the tires sidewalls the worse the ride.....
i dont remember what tire size is correct for 16s tho. but that size sounds about right.... it wont be as smooth of a ride from your original 13-15s depending on what stock wheels ya got.
those truck tires must be thin as hell.... lol no wonder they ride to ruff!
IMO 20s are the largest i would go on my fullsize truck. only way i would go larger is if i got some massive swaper tires on a lifted truck ;)
theres two things that killl your ride quality.... lowering and larger rims.

what width are the wheels you currently have? that determines tire size as well.

motegi racing FF7 16x7 +42 offset.

The tire size sounds about right for a 16x7 (I really don't feel like checking right now lol), and the offset is perfect (you need at least a +38mm offset to avoid rubbing, so a +42 will work great).
If I'm correct, dx's came stock with 13" steelies... that being the case, your ride quality isn't going to be near as good as it is with the stock wheels, but it should still be liveable.
(welcome to the forum, btw)

personally, I would go with a little smaller sidewall. I like a 40 on 16s, though the ride will be a little rougher, on stock suspension it should be more than livable, and youll get much better handling with the smaller sidewall, as well as it not looking like big balloon tires.

^ You forgot to mention that the speedo will be less accurate then. It'll only be something like 0.8% off, but it should still be mentioned
but +1 on the better handling with a smaller sidewall

it came stock with 175/70/13. i looked on the gallery here to see if anyone had 205/50/16 and i found a couple of people running this size and also lowered and they didnt look to balloney. i guess my biggest concern is ride quality. thanks to everyone for your responsees and help.

if your biggest concern is ride quality, then youre on the right track[sm=smiley20.gif] but your speedo will actually be quite a bit off with the 50 series. the 40 series would get it within about 1%.

I just checked... the 50-series will put your speedo off by almost 6% (when your speedo will read 60mph, you'll actually be doing about 56)... I could've sworn the 50-series was closer to stock than that.:)

thanks for the help reaper. i just found a tire calculator on another thread and i think 205/45/16 will be a better choice. at 60 it shows i will be at 58.3 mph. ive already gone the lo profile route on my 02 H.D. F150 w 265/35/22 and i just need a better ride for thishb Civic is now my daily driver. Thats why i didnt want to go with a 40 series. thanks again to everyone for your help to a newbie.
