View Full Version : I want a tachometer in my 98 LX Asster 04-23-2008, 12:37 PM How would I go about getting one in there for a low price FlipHKD720 04-23-2008, 01:12 PM check on eBay for an EX or SI clsuter from 96-00. Any of them will work, strictly plug n play. Asster 04-24-2008, 07:24 PM would this work? http://cgi.ebay.ca/96-00-HONDA-CIVIC-EX-AC-AUTO-S7-GAUGES-JDM-KM-H-97-98_W0QQitemZ220225446474QQihZ012QQcategoryZ43952QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem also is it hard to install the gauges? Mr Mobsta Man 04-24-2008, 07:25 PM Those are covers, not gauges. cvcrcr99 04-25-2008, 07:52 AM Just a very quick search on ebay, i think Flip was talking about something like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-00-HONDA-CIVIC-SPEEDOMETER-INSTRUMENT-CLUSTER_W0QQitemZ190215817667QQcmdZViewItem There were about 20 results for "96-00 Civic Cluster". Check them out and your set. Good Luck! Asster 04-25-2008, 11:24 PM Okay does it matter if the cluster is coming from an automatic transmission or manual? I drive a manual btw so should I only be looking at MT clusters? Thanks cvcrcr99 04-26-2008, 07:42 AM Yes, I would suggest to buy a manual cluster if your car is Manual. Otherwise, you'll have the "markings" (for lack of better words) on the right for "P", "R", "D", etc. It might not be a perfect plug-and-play if the cluster is for an auto. and you have a 5 spd. Just look around, Ebay sounds like the best place for this if your trying to keep the cost down. Have fun! Asster 04-26-2008, 10:02 AM okay thanks for the help guys kennmonster 05-26-2008, 07:29 AM Do you know if this is true for Canadian models. I have a 99 EX but it has the same cluster as a DX or LX. Will a USDM cluster from an EX work with my Canadian model? It would be great if it would b/c I don't want an external aftermarket unit on my dash. Thanks. Mr Mobsta Man 05-26-2008, 05:25 PM I'm fairlycertain that a USDM EX cluster will work in your car. sde780 05-27-2008, 07:06 PM My 98 LX has a tachometer in it from the factory SilverSedan 05-27-2008, 08:16 PM I drive a canadian honda as well...keep in mind you have to keep a close eye on what you're buying! First of all the guages will be in Miles per Hour (not Kilometers) but other then that it should work fine. Just something to keep in mind... (by the way I have a 97 EX...167,000kms...what do you have on yours?) cyberx32 05-27-2008, 09:09 PM Keep in mind canadian civics have different model names kennmonster 06-15-2008, 09:20 AM ORIGINAL: SilverSedan I drive a canadian honda as well...keep in mind you have to keep a close eye on what you're buying! I have owned a Volvo and a Hyundai both from the US. My Civic has 203000Kms on it. I put 3500 Kms on it in 6 weeks, I love driving this car, probably the best I have ever owned. Thanks for the info, I am going to do it. kennmonster 06-15-2008, 09:25 AM http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130230801086&_trksid=p 2759.l1259 Would this one work, Sweet if it would. I sent the guy an email. trustdestruction 06-15-2008, 10:13 AM ORIGINAL: sde780 My 98 LX has a tachometer in it from the factory if it's USDM, that's normal. to the canadian guys: if you really wanted to have KM as the main unit on the speedometer, you could buy a JDM gauge cluster. They cost more, but i think it'd be sweet to have a type R gauge cluster. I just don't want mine to be in KM. you might find some on eBay, but i know they have some used on passwordjdm.com kennmonster 06-15-2008, 05:58 PM ORIGINAL: trustdestruction ORIGINAL: sde780 My 98 LX has a tachometer in it from the factory if it's USDM, that's normal. to the canadian guys: if you really wanted to have KM as the main unit on the speedometer, you could buy a JDM gauge cluster.
