If I have my volume on low or at 0 I can hear static from my rear speakers. If I turn it up it goes away, but I'd like to fix this issue. Anyone know what it can be? running boss 5 ch amp, rear boston 6x9 speakers, everything is connected, no loose wires.

boss amp works fine, I'm not putting my stuff as loud as it goes. sony cdx-gt520 radio I turned down everything for the rear speakers from the amp and I still hear the same constant static. Once I put volume at 10 or so where it's not quiet, you can't hear it, but it's going to bother me because it is there

Do you have a Capacitor? (sp?) If not, your alternator may be running harder in order to power the amp connected to your battery making a distortion noise. You dont hear it from your speakers when you have the music up because music is coming out of the speakers, overriding the distortion noise. If you shut off the head unit completely, does the noise go away? Good Luck.
