If I have my volume on low or at 0 I can hear static from my rear speakers. If I turn it up it goes away, but I'd like to fix this issue. Anyone know what it can be?

running boss 5 ch amp, rear boston 6x9 speakers, everything is connected, no loose wires.

boss amp works fine, I'm not putting my stuff as loud as it goes.

sony cdx-gt520 radio

I turned down everything for the rear speakers from the amp and I still hear the same constant static. Once I put volume at 10 or so where it's not quiet, you can't hear it, but it's going to bother me because it is there

Do you have a Capacitor? (sp?)  If not, your alternator may be running harder in order to power the amp connected to your battery making a distortion noise. You dont hear it from your speakers when you have the music up because music is coming out of the speakers, overriding the distortion noise.  If you shut off the head unit completely, does the noise go away?  Good Luck.

Yeah the higher your gain is the more it will do that. Especially when it is cold out, at least with my stereo it seems to do that. But if its warm I only here it sometimes.

It's either a ground or your equipment

all noise goes away completely when I turn the head unit off. When I turn it on and it's reading the cd it actually sounds like the rear speakers are playing the sounds of the disc spinning, a slight spin noise. But once the cd is playing it just turns to a constant low sound static. The static does not go up with volume increase, but it doesn't go down either. If I play louder I can't hear it obviously. And the alternator shouldn't be running too hard, I'm not playing my speakers/sub loud.

No I do not have a capacitor. I can turn the lows down so the sub isn't kicking out anything and the static from the rear speakers is still the same.
