i have a '96 civic EX 1.6L SOHC with an A3 racing tip. (got it at advanced auto for $50!!!!) anywho, its a 5-spd but the clutch went out on it and i cant even get it moved from where its parked right now, so im lookin for a stock clutch A.T.M. after i get some money saved up im looking to get a full cat back on it with a 4-2-1 header. some lowering springs to drop it about 2 inches, and POSSIBLY put a 6-spd in there. so i have thought about all that good stuff but i have not decided on what kind of rims i want yet... but for the moment im going to start with appearance. the car is stock black and i want to paint it a metalic black to get a nice sparkling look. enough with the rant though, give me your feed back on what you guys think!!!!

Do some research before you buy,
function is everything over looks(i.e.hood scoops that do nothing)
quality parts, quality parts, quality parts---you get what you pay for
Try not to spend all your money in Auto Zone/Pep Boys/Advanced Auto
Believe me it pays to be patient, research your parts and why, save your money for quality pieces.
Above all its your car so do what you like without regard to popular opinion when it comes to color...etc
Just be smart about it!
Good luck

ok thats the old (un-revised) version of my thoughts.... right now all i want to do is get black rims, and drop it about 2 inches... i EVENTUALLY want to drop a b18 OR b20 engine in it... THEN im gunna drop a 6 spd into it... i topped it out in 4th the other day at 110, well thats when it decided it didnt wanna go no faster and the rev limiter kicked in... i still wanna paint it metallic black... i dunno exactly what else i wanna do to it right atm.. hit me back with opinions of what you think k thx

I understand.
Edit button is mostly useful for classifieds. Making spelling/grammar mistakes, but some people will read it once and if you edit it, noone will really care/notice.
thats all i have for pics. OH and for an update i made my own cat back... punched out the cat, took off the silenser and piped it all together, cost me $38 for 10 things.. :S but it sounds like a 5zigen cat back so its all good. kept my A3 racing tip on btw. just wanted to update for you 8D oh almost forgot, got the new clutch 2 weeks ago, it was all re-assembled in 5 1/2 hours (GO ME!!!!)

i'm sorry to offend you, but what the hell are you talking about in any of your posts? it's too hard to follow your typing.
and
#1 only 6 speed tranny you can get is with a k series swap
#2 why did you spend fifty bucks on a crappy auto parts exhaust tip?
#3 if you want to swap out for a b series motor, why are you doing all of your exhaust and intake work right now?
#4 I would recommend letting a professional paint your car, and not some buddy or friend that might know how
#5 and why did you have to reach 110 mph on public roads with other families on the road
and why do you think that speed limiter is in your car in the first place?

ever heard of if there is a will there is a way?
#2 why did you spend fifty bucks on a crappy auto parts exhaust tip?
because it sounds exactly like a 5zigen cat back with how it is now
#3 if you want to swap out for a b series motor, why are you doing all of your exhaust and intake work right now?
because i cant efford the swap at the moment so i gotta work with what i can
#4 I would recommend letting a professional paint your car, and not some buddy or friend that might know how
i have friends that are professionals not to mention my dad used to paint cars
#5 and why did you have to reach 110 mph on public roads with other families on the road
it was 12 AM do you think there would be people out WALKING on the road at that time of night? NO
and why do you think that speed limiter is in your car in the first place?
because i live in minnesota, they put limiters in all of the cars because the police cars are ****

no one will be impressed on this forum with "oh i reached 110 in 4th", right now you are some stupid young ricer in our minds.
as for you "where there's a will there's a way". money talks, if you want to spend the money to put a 6 speed in there on your d-series, go right ahead, probably will cost you around 25,000, like ej6 said, the k series is the only 6 speed that you can put in your car. that swap totals betweent 10-15k.
all of your posts have made me laugh so far.
you think they just make the cars in minnesotawith speed limiters? no other state has them, just the cars in minnesota bc the cop cars are slow.... hahahaha

as for the it was 12 am.... a deer can be a very harmful thing at 110 mph, even at 12 am... i've had several of my friends die in accidents, not something we get excited over.
all we are saying is drive safe... you wanna drive fast, go to the track.

Thats a nice car and you can make it look good but that muffle tip looks pretty ugly I think, it looks like a friggin bazooka sticking out the back ready to fire. Like EJ mentioned above doing 110 isnt anything funny but plain stupid, it isnt worth it, alot of things at risk, including your life and the people around you in the road. Reving your car till the limiter kicks in is also not good, you are killing your engine that way and will only lower your performance in the future. I know having a manual can be tempting but I wouldnt recommend you passing 6k rpms when u want to accelerate too fast. Switching gears under 3k RPMs is the best for your engine, if you read the owners manual and the suggested manufacturers shifting points is exactly that.
Be smart, dont waste your money, and your car is your baby, she gets you where you need to go, take good care of her and she won't let you down. Good luck with it.

thank you for not being snarly about it civicnoob. i understand where you guys are coming from but you dont have to be so bitchy about it, there is no reason for it at all. but i have decided to go with a b20 and keep the 5 spd. but i REALLY gotta lower it first and get some rims for the thing. and yes it is my baby, and other than speeding i baby it...

i'm not trying, it just seems that way because of your original post talking about driving double the speed limit and adding an extra gear and other unintellectual comments. we're just trying to show you what the majority thinks of as acceptable. there have been many members that join this forum and make first posts like your original, and it just shows they're intellegence (or ignorance) and then people really don't care to help at that point. i'm not trying to piss anyone off, just some people have different opinions than others, and they don't like it when they're contradicted or argued with.

That spoiler is not my cup of tea. But, I think it ispart of the Civic herritage to rice out your car if you want to.
I think a Civic can be riced out. Kind of expected. I amjust too old for that. I waslooking for a quick car that gets good gas mileage when I bought mine last month. Something that I can take on a mountain road during the weekend and have some fun with.
Actually, the stock Si spoiler on my Civic is too much for me. But, it goes with the car and ****es it up a bit.
