i posted this on the civicforum and i didnt realy get a reply for some time, so ill see what you guys think.  the reply i got was , quote-

hx is tricky cause the exhaust is setup differently than any other model. you may need to do something with custom pipe and weld on the muffler you want. quote

Is that true^^?

I got a reply to an anser from the seller of one of the  axleback exhaust i found, and he said yea it will work on the civic HX model, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280222485558

I'm on ebay looking to buy an aftermarket axleback exhaust, for better sound(very loud i like raspy.) and looks. I have an 96 civic HX. Most of the ones i look at dont list HX as a model, some will say fits 96-00 civic models, or it will list like fits ex,dx and so on, but no HX. i want a direct replacement with new modification, just remove and bolt on. My price rang is under $150, im just going for sound not HP gain.

If some one could go on ebay and post a link of a muffler that will fit on my HX, that would help.

this is what i found but i dont know if it will fit.

Load Raspy and cheap...save your money and get a cherry bomb, (glass pack) it will set you back 30 bucks and another 50-75 to install, it will be very load and raspy, or just take the muffler off, straight pipe it that wont coast you anything, its not idel but cheap. But i would suggest saving up alittle more and get a good exhaust, something that sounds good and makes more power!

more power = more fun!!

If you want sound and looks might as well unbolt your factory muffler and weld on a fart tip to your factory tip. Shouldn't cost your more than $30.
