Charging A/C

kyrupp7 -> Charging A/C (5/4/2008 6:45:02 PM)

Hello guys,

I got a '95 EX and the A/C is not blowing cold. Just a little colder than when just the fan. I bought a charge kid but I'm not sure exactly where to charge it. The guy at Advanced told me to put it in the valve with the "L" on the plastic cap. I tried this and it did not seem to help much. The pressure went up a small bit but not into the charged zone on the gauge. I could tell no difference in the A/C temp. There is another valve with a plastic cap labeled "H".

Do I need to charge the "H" valve as well?

Does it normally take more than one 12oz can to charge the system?

Thanks

never put it on the high side or as called H always on the L or low side and when you do it run your engine with the blower on high now when i did mine i started doing it and i saw that it was coming out on a high side line and bought a new line and then it worked but you might have a leak check all around on your lines see if you have a leak you prolly do if it is not holding pressure or the freon in there and you might want to try another can i am not sure cause some guy i talked to about it they said it takes about 4 of those cans to fill it all the way up but dont listen to me cause it could be couple of things lol just check for leaks first

Thanks for the tips guys. I do think the "L" is the one closer to the engine.

A friend of mine just told me I should put a can of stop leak in it. What do you guys think?

Thanks

The total capacity of the system is about 23 oz of refrigerant. Stop leak will only be a temporary solution, if that. Best to repair the leak.
