View Full Version : dsm 450s
nik005 05-05-2008, 04:34 AM i have a set of dsm 450s but im thinking i might sell them and then spend the extra cash to buy precision 440cc injectors from phearable.net just for the ease of install and then theyll be brand new. never know what happened to the 450s before i got them. so if anyone has ne thoughts on this please let me know. by the way the 450s sell for like 100 bucks with resistor box which i have. and the 440 precisions are 210
civicrippa98 05-05-2008, 04:39 AM i dont see any reason not to go with the DSM 450's except that they are built for your specific application. I mean they are used and could possibly leak, do you have knowledge of the mileage of the car that they came out of? DSM fuel injectors are usually pretty tuff, i have seen 350-400whp applications running stock injectors no problem. They might develope a leak at 150,000 miles or so. Go with the DSM's unless you have money for the precisions.
nik005 05-05-2008, 04:42 AM ive got money. thats not really a problem atleast not yet in my build. but i have no info about the car they came out of. plus i dont like the thought of haveing to install them. i know everyone says its easy but it sounds harder than just plugging in the precisions without wiring up a resistor box. to me thats pretty much worth an extra 100
Forty04 05-05-2008, 04:46 AM DSM 450's = $50 MAX
Clips and Resistor box = $20
You'd have to find a stupid newb to pay $100 for used DSM 450s
Hooking them up isn't hard at all, they're tried and true, and a very common application, which makes Tuning easier. Honestly, if you're intimidated by a little wiring, you probably shouldn't be building anything..
GReddy_Civic 05-05-2008, 05:25 AM if money isnt a problem....why a civic?
nik005 05-05-2008, 05:36 AM its not so much the wiring that i dont like im 100% sure i could do it i just dont like not knowing where the injectors are from or if they have been abused. plus i just think it would look cleaner and be easier to go with direct plug ins. no dremmeling the seal or wiring in clips and a box
civicrippa98 05-05-2008, 07:05 AM this is very true, if you have the money just do it because its obviously alot easier. With that said, i would ask other members of this forum or speed shops near you what luck they have had with DSM injectors. They really are tried and true and work great. They are also OEM equipment which provides extra reliability because they have been researched and developed by a multi million dollar corporation. Think about replacement injectors too, you can go to any NAPA or VIP and order stocks DSM 450cc injectors, no shipping payment, no nothing. Buy precision and what if you get a lemon injector? You have to send it back, wait for another one and it just adds up you know. either way, good luck and it should come out good. Personal Opinion, DSM injectors look way more trick on the fuel rail than precision injectors do, it shows workmanship.

With the many stupid people in the world today,I don't think that would be a problem:D
Forty04 05-06-2008, 04:39 AM lol, I suppose you're probably right :D
As far as cleanliness is concerned, I've done two DSM 450 installs so far and both turned out pretty stealth. Only took about an hour per install. Had I spent a couple hours on it, you probably wouldn't see the wires/box at all.
nik005 05-06-2008, 09:53 AM well i guess if it only takes about an hour it cant be that hard so i think ill do it. but be warned if i have questions im coming directly to u
civicduty96 05-06-2008, 06:30 PM thats funny i did a set of dsm 450s in my car today....... i wouldnt worry about the install being tough.. i hid the box and ran the wires for the injectors up from the bottom of the intake manifold
and wire loomed everything and it took about an hour.... i also used orings for a 2000 si and the dsms fit perfect....
