I am new to the honda scene i have a 1993 jdm civic hatch back sir 2 from japan right hand drive and all that stuff. IN it is a B16a stock. I was wondering what All do i need to put in a B18C the GSR japanese engine into it. I know the ecu and engine but what else do i have to get the tranny and shift linkages wiring harness and mounts. Or will it just drop in witht the sam wiring harness  the engine would be obd1 or obd 2 and i have the harness adapter for it any info is greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure about mounts, but all I think you'll need is the engine itself.  I'm not sure, but you'll probably need the wiring harness from the b18, too, but I'm not positive on that one.  If you wanted to keep your b16 transmission, it will bolt right up to the b18 block.  I believe all b-series parts (or the great majority of them) are interchangeable, so you won't have any problems there.

Lol,i've just bought basically the same car as this guy grey interior and all.It's fair amusing how to you guys right hand drive is a rarity,yet for me i was thanking (insert who you believe in here) that japanese cars are the same side drive as british ones so my insurance wouldn't double. Back to the point,you could put a b18c block in or alternatively you could mate the original b16a head to a b20(non vtec) bottom end,thus giving an equal amount of torque as bhp,more fun and much more revvy.
In order to do this you would need a conversion kit which as it turns out is available i believe only from the usa.This is to allow the non vtec bottom end to utilise the vtec top end from the b16a.

if you have the JDM B16 i would judt leave it in and build that

Keep the b16a and turbo it.  You already have the engine it will give you WAY more power than any swap and it is one of the best engines to turbo.  Even if you want more NA power the b16a is the best bet especially its head. Anyway nice find on the sir thats gotta be a sweet ride.  oh and if you still decide to go with a b18c depending if you have a first or second gen b16a you will not even feel the power difference 1st gen b16a  160hp, 2nd gen b16a 170hp, b18c1 170hp with a little more torque.  B18c5 = way more money than a turbo.  Thats just my thoughts on the matter.  Hope it goes well

I'm not going to argue about the b16 being a good engine to turbo, but with swaps, what about the k20a2 and h22a?

K20a2 = 200hp, not sure on torque
h22a = 200hp, 160ft/lbs... tell me that stock for stock, the b16 is a better engine than the h22.

Both the above engines would be nice,out of the two i'd go with saving for a k20a as these are basically the same torque as the h22 but they work slightly differently and have i-vtec (the deciding factor for me). The k20a is also much more lively engine than the h22.
But all said and done,i run the exact same car as you and believe me the b series is one of the most interchangeable and tuneable engines out there.so basically whatever your looking for from your engine you can find it in the block you already have.

k20a from EP3 Type-R
212bhp @ 8000rpm
149ft/lbs torque @ 7000rpm
Redline @ 8600rpm.

Well undoubtedly for swaps an H or K series engine would be a winner, however he was not even considering those engines.  I was only saying since he already has the engine in and if its in decent condition a b16a turbo would still make more power than even those engines not to mention the expense of getting and installing those engines in comparison with even an all out turbo build on the b16a.  But yes the H22 and k20 series swaps would add much more horsepower than any b series engine stock or even with bolt ons.

Yeah k20 aint cheap not by a very long shot. Without a swap to that engine i'd just stick with your JDM b16 as for no extra cost you alread have a very sound base to work from.
