well vinyl is a nice idea BUT it can be a HUGE PITA to smooth out.... i wish you luck with that!!!!!!!

as to the screws and such i would go from the back of the box and use some L metal brackets to hold them onto the board that way you can remove them from the rear...

or you could just build a trim panel to cover up everything... and use some magnets to hold the trim panels inplace....
with a trim panel you can leave your panel as it is right now alone and just close up the not so perfect areas. and just build the trim panel out of some 1/8inch thick mdf and carpet it.

also for the remote turn on wire a simple relay... and you can add what ever you want and not pull to much power from your radios turn on wire..

Yeah actually the trim pannel thing is a pretty good idea. What do you think about the velcro thing though? Like just put a ton of velcro on the box and then on the back of a carpet and then the piece would just go right against it and when you wanna get at the screws I would just pull the piece off.

Yeah I figured I could just use a relay but just wanted to be sure.

not sure about the velcro... MAYBE.... but youd have to sow it to the carpet so it sticks and screw/staple the other side of the velcro to the box.... and well carpet will stretch alittle and you wont be able to make it completly tight across the whole thing with those openings....
