What short shifter is best for my 1998 Civic? What is the performance difference between dual bend and single bend? Should I go with aluminum or steel? Thanks

i can tell you this stay away from cheap ebay brand short shifters. unless you like snapping your shifter knob off...lol.as for steel or ???aluminum?? i spell that right?? o well, i would choose aluminum over steel, for the sake its lighter. straight or bent. i belive the bent ones are for clearance of your knuckles while shifting. if i wrong correct me please.

How often do you see steel snapping in half?? You dont....normally. I would stick with anything steel. Aluminum may be cheaper, but it is lighter and will snap (depending on the way you drive and shift). I had an aluminum (sp?) ebay shifter (about $30.00) and it broke as I was shifting into 3rd on a highway. Right now I have a Skunk2 Single Bend. The dual bend or single bend is a preference, no difference regarding performance. Usually, a dual bend shifter is featured in an Integra and a single bend is featured in Civics (i think, correct me if I'm wrong). Although, they are interchangable. good luck!!

I'd personally leave the aluminium and steel alone and go for a composite shaft as these don't get hot like the others, also i'd go with the dual bend as imo they feel more positive. I'll vouch for this as when i bought my eg6 it had a aluminium single bend C's racing short shift that got really hot on long journeys. I then asked about and found that both the Buddy Club and Skunk2 were apparently the best out there,i went with the Buddy Club dual bend cos it looks tidyer with the Buddy Club seats.
