RE: alarm
looks like a pretty good alarm for the price. just depends on what you want your alarm to do. if you plan to use the keyless entry, remote start and all that stuff great, but if all you want is something to make noise when someone trys messin with your car then thats not what you need. but i would buy it.

RE: alarm
Javon, are you a qualified installer? If you are.... buy it and put it in.
If it has the features you need.... go for it. Remember though, if your not an installer you will only get one shot at the install, and if you cook somethin.... your S.O.L. Why are you not shopping atyour local stereo shop and supporting them? Thewarranty is worth it. |
RE: alarm
Sorry for posting so late, but this is the alarm that I installed in my 1997 Civic! For the price I managed to get it for, I can not complain ($90 shipped minus the $52 paypal credit that a friend let me have). Anyhow, installation was relatively straight forward, and thus far my alarm works without any false triggers.
The only thing I did differently was to toss the shock sensor in the trash and install the Autopage SIS-12 Infrasonic sensor. I also have a battery backup, multiple sirens, and the brain placed where NO thief would ever expect it to be! My only complaint about the autopage RF-420 was that I had to add additional relays for the second stage door unlock and the dome light. Sure, those were only comfort features and the relays were less than $12 for the two of them but I wanted the alarm to be close to factory where the driver's door unlocked first, THEN the passenger's door would unlock with another press of the button. Plus, I like the dome light being on in the evening! I wanted to support my local stereo shop, but ALL of them REFUSED to hook up any form of vehicle immobilization, and that kind of turned me off since they wanted $175 just for the labor to install an alarm in my 1997 Civic. Yes that was $175 for the LABOR not including the price of the alarm! I am out of pocket for less than $100, so I am extremely pleased with my own alarm install, so I figure I came out ahead! |
