Default frank vs stang

my bud has a stang and rips on imports all the time (he laughed when i bought my eclipse, and about had a fit when i told him i was building a civic), and it's starting to get on my nerves.

i know how much everyone hates "will i win?" posts. even i do, but im goin to the track in a couple days and i want to know how possible it will be for me to win. im hoping i will be in the low 14s.

the stang is a 4.6l v8 with flowmasters.

i have an automatic 92 civic coupe with a 89 CRX SI block (built bottom end), with a y8 Vtec head, 2.5" racing exhaust, stock header, z6 intake manifold, no ac, gutted trunk w/ no rear seats.

peg, i'd agree with you except for the fact that the pre 99 mustang GT's had a not-so-incredible 4.6 in them. I am talking about the 4.6 after the 5.0's and before the body changes in 99.

I had a 1993 Cavalier 3.1V6 5 speed and i could keep up with one :-\. but to the OP, if it's the bodystyle peg had, goodbye :P.

yeah, if it's a 99-04 gt, you;'re screwed no matter what. If it's a 94-98 GT, you're still screwed because of your slushbox (and mostly stock motor)... Basically, you're pretty much running a stock z6 (d16a6 + mini me = d16z6), so I'm going to say you have something like 125hp at the crank. You're going to be in the mid 16's, not low 14's.

your 01 gt w/ aftermarket exhaust/intake ran mid 13's? An 01 cobra runs mid 13's, how the hell does a GT with an added 15-20hp do the same? Cobra's stock that year had DOHC 4.6L 320HP engine. GT had SOHC 4.6L 260HP engine.

BTW the civic will get eaten alive.
