Need a cure for body roll
I have a 99 Ex with stock suspension and 18x8" axis wheels. Im almost clueless when it comes to suspension and clearance but i know enough to figure out these wheels are big for my car. They were given to me for free otherwise i would have gone with 17's. I have trouble with tire rub as expected but very little andonly in the rearon hard turns due to body roll so im confident it can be fixed. Would a rear sway bar or stiffer struts or a strut bar help to eliminate wheel rub?

RE: Need a cure for body roll
best solution would be to sell those monster 18s and buy some 16's with proper offset. other than that, rolling the fender, adding a little negative camberand buying coilovers with stiff spring rates would be ur best yet most expensive option..

RE: Need a cure for body roll
ok imo if you want to reduce the body roll I would go with a rear sway bar preferably like a type r sway. however if you do go with a type r then you would need to reinforce your sub brace or you will rip it out. so for the reinforcement I would go with an acr (I think that is the name of the company) sub frame brace then you would also need to get the end links. the whole setup would probably cost you a little under $350.00 but honestly I would definately go with a smaller rim MAX I would go is a 17 but on a civic I think a 16 is the best size rim. |
RE: Need a cure for body roll
imo, a roll cage is the only CURE.
anything else, is just a band-aid |
RE: Need a cure for body roll
roll cage a cure for body roll? i thought you were an engineer...
how does that act on the suspension part of the problem? |
RE: Need a cure for body roll
yes, i'm an engineer, and i know, it was a joke, i've always wanted to use it. lol

RE: Need a cure for body roll
im gonna look into trading them for 17's but if at all possible i want to keep them on my car. do they make a strut with less travel that would fit on a civic without raising or lowering it?

RE: Need a cure for body roll
lol in an age where they make 30' wheels calling 18s "monster" is funny

RE: Need a cure for body roll
yes, it's called a coilover (some brands retain the factory height with an increased spring rate)
