Default lock up noise???

hey guys new to this site. ive always been in to cars and know alot about them but this is stumping me.

95 civic ex atx 160,000 miles

at the begining of the week we had rain, while driving home from work in the rain i started getting noise after the trans shifts into over drive that sounds like an elctric fan kicking on under your seat. it is fine if you keep power to it but as soon as you let off the gas pedal it starts. if you give it gas it stops. it only started happening that day in the rain but keeps doing it. i changed fluid and there was a good amount of metal on the plug. im thinking its the torque converter lockup. i have no other problems in any gear. if i shift out of od i never get the noise.

Check the Civic service manual for details (see link in earlier post).

ok so i went through the trans part and im still not sure. i adjusted the throttle cable since that had to much play in it. but im not sure what the trans is supossed to do at the time it makes the noise. it almost seems like the rpms drop to much or to fast. if you keep your foot on the pedal just enough to not brign the rpms up it is fine.
