Default Just got back from second tune

Making 234whp/243wtq on a dynapack. Figure if I increase my piping to 3" i'll gain 35-50whp. A friend suggested I run a muffler where my resonator is right now and run a straight pipe from there to the tail. Any suggestions?

i think if you had custom 3" piping with a 3" inlet/outlet resonator and 3" inlet/oulet muffler you'd be doing just fine. Probably sound beter than the setup you mentioned as well.

Yeah i've been having that internal debate with myself for awhile. I love my current, very custom, setup because the exhaust looks stock and it has an incredible sound that I have never heard from a honda. On the other hand, 50 more horsepower without having to add more fuel sounds pretty cool as well, specially considering i spool all the time so the sleeper exhaust isn't really necessary.

If you have an exhaust that looks stock and makes those numbers I would keep it. I have had so many tickets from exhausts even with the silencer in there that I have about had it I want something that looks stock besides that is a nice setup good job by the way that must be a fun ride. And thats weird I have never seen a honda make more torque than power especially a vtec engine. Not to mention a bit of a sleeper look exhaust. Hope this helps.

Well, it seems my exhaust size is not the restriction on my power, as I originally thought. Its the fact that I make 17.5lbs in my torque range and leak down to 9lbs by 7k. Torque monster mystery solved. Regardless, i'm not gonna fix the boost leak, I dont need any more power in a 2400lb fwd street car. Plus i don't wanna pay for a third tune and all the misc costs that would allow me to get the power to the ground. Taking it to the track for the first time this weekend, gonna beat the **** outta my tires so i'll have a reason to get some real tires.

I don't think you'll gain that much horsepower by haveing a 3" exhaust. I read this article I found on another forum, i'll try to find it. The guy tested it and found no differences untill he used it with over 500 hp, and it was only at a certain point in the high rpm range where it showed more power. I'll dig it up.

Yeah i kinda rationalized that after some thought. The biggest restriction in the exhaust of a turbocharged engine is the turbo itself! Dumb me.

Just trying to help so you don't spend extra money you don't need to . The best exhaust would be no exhaust at all, cause there would be no backpressure whatsoever. Of course that would be really loud and unsafe...

There's always the option of getting an exhaust cutout welded on to be actuated at full throttle. That would be fun.
