New Head Unit for 2007 Sedan
Hi Everyone,
I havea 2007 Civic Sedan SI and want to change the head unit. From what's I've heard, changing the head unit in this car is pretty difficult and would be expensive because the AC is connected to the head factory head unit and that some re-wiring would have to occur. Does anyone know if this is true? Please let me know. Thanks! |

Well I don't know much about the 2007 models but this dilema sounds similar to the 96-98 civics where the keyless entry system was built into the factory stereo. The way people got arround that (and still kept the keyless entry) is they would keep the factory unit hooked up (at least on the necesarry wires for the keyless) and then hide it under the dash somewhere and then put the new head unit in and hook up the proper wires. Hope this helps.

You are going to need something like this: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...1G&tp=3486
A friend of mine who works as an installer at Best Buy just purchased a used 2006 Si and is in the process of installing a system in it. |

Well yes that is a dash kit but I don't know if that answers his question exactly. I think he was also talking about the fact that the AC may be wired in through the factory stereo, not just attached to the same faceplate.

The a/c is NOT attached to the headunit.
The only reason some may have said that is because the headunit comes out as a whole 'piece' along with the a/c controls. It's the same as with alot if not all hondas. All you have to do is unscrew about 4 screws to detach the headunit from the a/c controls. No big deal and not that difficult. |

Except for my 2007 Accord V6 6MT that had dual climate controls. The climate controls were integrated into the radio and made changing out the head unit an expensive option so I just left it in there and used a LOC to connect my amp and sub!

Yea if this was an accord then i can see what you mean, but it's a civic si sedan.
The dash is different. AND you almost always need a fit kit. |
