Default 1992 civic question

hello guys first off, i currently have a mustang, and i hve a buddy who has a 1992 civic... he has roughly 150k miles on the clock but he blew his engine and basically needs to replace it.... can anyone point me in the right direction, he doesn't really know alot about cars, so i am helping him out a little, i was looking at some engines online, and i don't know what to be looking for... i am hoping that he can use his current tranny which is an auto, any good engines that would be cheap replacement for his engine?

D16Z6, most likely. That's the one he would want for that car, and that's the one that was probably in it to begin with.

K20 yo... if you have 8 grand to drop.

Look into an integra GSR engine.

The same engine will work with an either auto or manual. You just need to put on a matching flywheel, which may not even come with a used engine anyway. If he wants higher performance he should consider converting to manual transmission. That is a rather straightforward bolt-on if you can find all the parts.

as far as better performance he has the best sohc forthe 92-95 generation. thats about as good as it gets without droping in a dohc motor. and hes looking at about 4g's to do that unless you can find a complete integra at the junkyard. best of putting a d16z6 back in look on youtube he can do amazing things with that motor if he wants i've seen them pull 11 and 12 sec quarters built right
