Default speakers work?

Well noticed today that my passenger door speaker is blown in my 98 civic.... It's an alpine with alpine head unit so I dunno why it would. It was on the car when I bought it a few years ago but still I thought they last like 10 years. My friend was slamming my door a bunch over the past couple days maybe that did something.[:@]

Alright I am looking at getting the Alpine SPS-600 front door speakers. The speakers that are currently in it are Type R SPR-176A, and has the crossover's aswell. Will I be able to run the type s speakers off the type r crossovers?

Default RE: speakers work?

could it possibly just be a faulty connection? I wouldn't think so cause the sound doesn't go at all, like fading in and out. The speaker crackles and when the bass plays it sounds worse.

Take the grille off and push lightly on the larger speaker cone, it should move in and out smoothly. If it is stuck or makes noise as it moves the speaker is blown. Also the soft part around the edge needs to be intact, they fall apart with age. Compare to the known good one in the other door if you have to.

The wiring to the door can fail too, it might make a crackling sound sometimes.

Just tried pushing the cone in lightly and it does make a sound kind of like rubbing. I'm not 100% sure if I'm pushing the right part tho. You just push the cone in lightly pushing inward right?
