What tranny to use for conversion
I have a 99 civic si canadian model. Its got the d16y8 engine. I want to convert it to 5 speed and i need to know what year and model civics will fit.....tranny, shift linkage , clutch assembly etc. I would buy a complete car if needed.

RE: What tranny to use for conversion
any d series transmission will work. preferrably a transmission from a d16y8. if you can't get one of those, the next best one would be d16z6. then after that there's the d16y7, and d15b7 trannys. then, with the longest gearing you have the d16y5 and d15b8.

RE: What tranny to use for conversion
you need a P2P ecu (the same one you have) but it has to be for a manual transmission car.
well for sure the 99-00 civic pedals will fit. 96-98 very likely (someone will have to confirm this), and 92-95 might fit too (someone will have to also confirm this) |

Well i think i solved my problem the easy way. Im going to go look at a nice clean 2000 civic SIR 5 speed on friday.I think im going to buy it and sell the si auto.
