hissing/squeaking sound

I have a question about a sound I heard when i switch gears. I have a 2000 civic ex manual transmission. I hear a hissing or squeaking sound during the point when i put in the clutch until a second or two after I'm in gear. It's not loud or anything, but I wanted to know if this was normal or not. It's done it for as long as I can remember.

^+1 either that or you have a mouse and a snake stuck and living inside your transmission.

what causes this? how difficult is it to replace? Is it worth replacing?

or may also be your exhaust with a long slit and sucks in the air and blows it out...does it happen when u downshift as well?

i finally got this resolved. I'm not sure exactly what it was but when i replaced the timing belt, water pump, a/c belt, alt belt, and p/s belt. the sound went away. i just don't know which one of those fixed the problem.
