1991 Civic bogging / stuttering question...
I have a 91 Civic, Manual tranny. at the bottom of every gear, in the lower RPM's, my car bogs down and kind of stutters until the RPM's get high enough and then it seems to pick back up and drive okay... what might cause this? I replaced the fuel filter and that seemed to fix it slightly for a bit, but now it's getting worse. The fuel pumps about a year old, could there be another cause?
Thanks guys, Aza |

shifting too early?

I'd tend to agree. The Civic engine likes to spin, don't lug it by shifting too early.
Lack of fuel usually becomes more acute at high rpm, wide open throttle because the engine's fuel demand is highest then. Could be an ignition problem too. |

Not a shifting problem. This is been asemi recent issue, and it happens all the time, not just sometimes. And it bogs down even when I hit the gas when idling in neutral. But you're right it does "act" as though I shifted early - so what could that be, ignition? fuel pump?

Check the ignition timing with a timing gun.
