Default dust cover needed?

do i really need the oem dust cover when im using aftermarket coilovers?
I'm asking because i had them with my coilovers inthe past but they sometimes rubbed and made noises with my coilover and so i cut them and now since im getting new coilovers should I order me a new batch of the OEM dust covers?
