Default lower sensor on clutch bracket

I have a 95 5sp civic. One of the pads that presses the lower sensor on the clutch bracket (pedal)has broken off. I know the topsensor is for the clutch inhibitor, but what is the lower sensor for? The car seems to run fine. Do I need to replace it?

Thanks
j

Default RE: lower sensor on clutch bracket

The lower sensor disengages the cruise control when the clutch is pressed. When it is bad, the cruise will not engage.
