when i worked as a tech, i had a guy come in telling me that he needed new brakes, and he wanted to make an appointment...i asked him what kind of car..his reply was: 2001 Mustang Saleen Cobra 38 Special. I said, what is a 38 special? his reply, "ford made a limited number of saleen cobra's with a super high performance 3.8 liter engine" i wanted so badly to see it, that i called my appointment for that slot and bumped it, and got him in. someone had sold this poor moron a green six cylinder automatic mustang with a saleen body kit and wing on it. i was going to tell him, but i figured that getting screwed was a deserving punishment for buying a mustang.

Hey not all Mustangs are slow (feeling a little beaten up on this one cause thats what i race). I figure a mid 12 second car on a stock bottom end no power adder is pretty good. Let me throw on a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous and i hit low 11's

"390 hp, high 12 second cobras" are driven by "45yo, low 14 second drivers"... Damn.. where do you live? Im lucky if I even see one cobra at our rinky-dink track, much less so many that I can compare age of the drivers and times.

stock 7 has 255, and with the 1000 pound difference, that gap is narrowing even more. and if the 7 is modded, then the Cobra is in trouble. single turbo upgrade and some good tuning, and its over. EDT: my bad, i was thinking 3rd gen 7. but i stand by my statements for the most part. a modded FC could easily smoke a mostly stock Cobra.

this reminded me of something: around here, anytime you see a 280z, 1rst or 2nd gen rx7, older model supra, ect. it always seems to be driven by a really old guy. an old and angry guy. and i saw a white haired old lady driving around in a red camaro SS the other day, too. i thought old people liked lincolns, caddys, stuff like that. what gives?

US3R...i run in pittsburgh...and id have to say that at my home track, i run in 'street', and that class has at least 10 03-04 cobras on a regular basis last year. there are two that are very fast, one runs in the very low 10s..the other has tags that read "NOJOKE"...he runs high 11s...he was the one that told my buddy that he was going to "embarrass me"...he did beat me...i ran a 12.69, he ran a 11.90...so i guess he was right...his built, new blown cobra beat my 22 year old nonner running on 87 octane...the worst part, i dont know the guy, he just decided to start running his mouth. but other than those two, the rest are older guys who always show up and seem REALLY happy to run high 13s or low 14s...and they hang out with the guy who is running a C5 Z06 in the high 13s...
