Default 2nd Gen RX-7 and an 03 Cobra

Pulled up to a light today while I was running errands for work and sat in between an 03 Cobra and a second gen RX-7. As soon as I pulled in the middle of them the mustang begins revving up and inching forward. I of coarse looked at him with a slight nod to let him know he wasnt worth my time or gas and he obviously didnt get it, so when the light hit green he fricking took off and the RX-7 did too. THe RX-7 had to get a car length or more on him and I could hear the RX-7 was pretty modded and also heard a BOV, (Type-S maybe) Hard to tell how far the RX-7 was ahead but when I pulled up next to them at the next red light I looked at the mustang guy and just laughed out loud at him, he didnt even look my way. I looked over to the RX-7 to see an older gentelmen maybe in his 60s just smiling at me and the mustang guy. It was great, I need to carry a video camera.

Kids and their Mustangs. That poor guy probably felt like he had an enormous wang but couldn't use it after that,

there used to be a shop in my home town area that had some guy in his 60s bring in a third gen RX7 and a photo...he handed the owner the photo and said "i want my RX7 to look and run like this one, no matter what the cost. it was a picture of the red rx7 from FATF...so the shop did an exact copy, building the engine to run as good as it looked. the guy actually showed it claming to be the same car, and he had the owners of the shop race the car for him so he could have the time slips. it ran a ten after some tuning. the owner of that shop has a blue 2nd gen, and it runs low 11s...they can be sick cars with the right work done.

2003 cobra has 390bhp, but it weighs like 3800lbs
2nd Gen RX-7 13B Turbo if it is in the 90s has 200bhp but weighs 2800lbs

Numbers might be wrong, but unless the RX was spraying I dont see this happening...

provided a healthy build, i see no reason why the 7 couldnt have hung with the cobra...and from ive seen at the track, alot of those "390 hp, high 12 second cobras" are driven by "45yo, low 14 second drivers"...

First off the weight difference there is huge, that alone is a huge advantage. They are both RWD. I know the 7 wasnt stock cause I heard the BOV, which I do belive sounded very greddy. I dont belive the mustang had more than a cheap pair of mufflers added to it. Wouldnt be that hard to get the 7 to beat the mustang IMO. Kinda of stereotypical of me but since the guy was older he prob has enough money to do so. Whos knows, maybe the 7 was at half throttel the whole way because he was brakeing in his 20b, lol. J/k.

one time i saw a 6-cyl mustang with cobra-R badging. even a crappy rx7 could eat that up.

i also saw a mustang with twin GT-R Vspec badges. i wish i had my camera back then.

if the driver is as cocky as he sounds, it's possible his "cobra" may have been a slight overstatement. that's the type of person i could see doing this kind of stuff.
