HI there people, I have a few questions to ask you guys, some of you seem to know your stuff. so here goes: What are the differences between the Civic coupe ESI, LSI and VTI performance wise and visually?. Also i am about to turn 17(living in the Uk) and buy my first car - a 1.6 coupe, obviously the insurance will be way to high if i buy a VTI. Is there any way i can buy a VTI but insure it under a ESI? Will the insurance find out? Or is there something else i could do. Thanks for your help! (ps. The insurance will be under 2nd driver)

well the vin # will tell the insurance company what exactly the car is so even if u say its an esi and its really a vti they will kown

Are ESI, LSI and VTI the Euro types of Civic?

Only thing I can think of is swap the engine. If you get the very base model, then swap in the top of the line engine on paper its one thing but really its another. But if the car is ever in an accident, you may have to pop your hood for the insurance. Company. A friend of mine acutely took a hacksaw to his car to take off all his after-market parts like his exhaust. The car was totaled anyway and even though the insurance KNEW what he had on there, since it wasn't there they could not do anything.

Plus the base model wont have power windows or anything like that. That makes the car lighter cause you don't have the motors for it.

Yea thats the only thing i can think of aswel. Also do you know what civic coupes are DOHC and which are SOHC thanks

I f the car is a 2 door car then the insurance is going to be high no matter what because the car is a sports car.

Hi mate, also from the UK. I drive a VTi hatchback. Basically the VTi as standard is 160BHP and is 1.6 16v DOHC (dual over head cam) VTEC a b16a engine Bearing in mind an Integra Type R is a b18 engine so its only 200cc more than the b16 is a group 16 insurance. Its quick. The ESI is, I think, A SOHC (single over head cam) VTEC 16v 1.6. I know for a fact it puts out about 120bhp and is a group 12 insurance. The LSi is a 1.5 SOHC 16v, no VTEC and is around 85BHP. The DX isn't worth talking about really, 1.3 16v SOHC. I had the LSi first then the VTi. If you can swing the insurance get the ESi, the VTI will be silly money insurance. Don't forget Insurance money is dead money, you'll never see it again. Also, if you want to upgrade to a VTI later you can take the body mods and they will fit straight on, I did that with a spoiler for my hatchback. Got a great body kit going on mine at the moment, can't wait for it to be done. Another good thing about these EG (1992-95) civics is you can fit 17" wheels without a problem and lower the car! No messing about. A good choice what ever you decide. Maybe go for an LSi, or, ESi if you can insure it. Good luck!!!!:)

Also, you can't insure the car as ESI for a VTI cos when you give the Reg number they know what car the number is on. It'll tell them when they look at the Reg on their computer it is a VTi.
