if you know what youre doing, its not too difficult. if you dont, its a wiring nightmare. pay a little more to have it professionally installed.

stick with DEI... viper, hornet, etc.

Even clifford is good, but pricey.

I second that. Viper or Clifford. pay extra for the alarm and get a good one. saving a couple of bucks on the alarm to spend somewhere else in the car just means the car theives get nicer stuff.

RE: hey

I did a custom DIY alarm install on one of my previous cars. DIY is nice in that you can put the alarm brain in any way/place you want (mine was behind a shatterproof window hidden under a speaker panel at the back of the car...and therefore harder for a thief to find/defeat) and it allows you to put the sensors/switches where you want as well BUT it is very time-consuming and a little tricky to pull off.

If you don't have special requirements or want a custom install (for example, extra little tricks or remote functions, etc) then I think paying an installer to do the dirty work is a good way to go.

Go clifford, and if you're in an area with a lot of stolen cars & really paranoid about your car get a lo jack system.
