Default help me

the other day my engine light came on and then my speedometer stopped working ! the temp and the tach still work fine ! the other thing that i noticed was now my DOHC vect doesnt kick in ??? i have a 99 civic si ! anyone know whats up with my car ?? plz help

dude, i know the feeling, im hunting a similar gremlin in my dx hybrid. i think mines a wiring issue (corroded connection in the plug) but yours is probably the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) i replaced that in the old 00 SI at about 85k miles. is a small plug on the top rear of the trans, it is accessed from the top and you just unplug it and take out the 2 10mm bolts holding it in, then put on the new one and bolt it down, then plug it in. check a Honda Acura recycler first, the dealer wants like 3X as much.

also, the vtec isnt working because its made not to unless the car is moving, so with the speedo at 0, the ecu thinks its standing still. should work fine when you fix the speedo.
