View Full Version : rear deck speaker size
hey guys what size are the speakers in my rear deck? i have a 2001 coupe lx?
i checked and they look like 6x9 but when i check the crutchfield what fits my car i dont c 6x9 there. also i remember i was readin in the article that new civics dont use 6x9 anymore.
please advice.
Thanx, V
Remmy 07-11-2005, 12:41 PM 6x9. If not, 6 1/2 Kicker, and MB quart as far as I know make components for that 6x9 snazz. Im sure its 6x9 in the back. Go in the trunk and check to see. 6x9's a rediculously oval when 6 1/2's are circular.
they definetly look like 6x9 since i have 6x9 in all my cars but i gotta b sure b4 i buy the speakers. also i need to check if i can fit the speakers into the spot since the magnet head might be too big. and the weird thing is how come crtuchfield does not specify 6x9 speakers along the ones that are going to fit my car.
Remmy 07-11-2005, 04:07 PM Because there is practically unlimited space for you 6x9's... ive never seen a pair that sinks deeper than 4 inches. They will git your car beautifully, there isnt really another speaker that comes close to that measurment.
Street Sniper 07-11-2005, 07:54 PM They make 6x8's but I assumed they were only for Ford applications.

gunmetal 07-11-2005, 08:03 PM 6 1/2" in the rear. I had a set of polks put in the rear deck. I had to have someone put them in because I couldn't figure it out. The sides of the rear seats have to come out. once I saw how it was done, it was easy.

Roost3r 07-12-2005, 01:23 PM should be 6x9s
ORIGINAL: DCAcivic
should be 6x9s
are you sure? i need to get the speakers ASAP so if you say they are 6x9 i will get them today.
Roost3r 07-12-2005, 03:09 PM the rear deck is made for 6x9s, however. 6 1/2s and 6 1/4s will fit too.
checked the label on the original speaker:) its a 15w pioneer:) but nothing about the size, i think i'm going to take one out and go to the store and compare to make sure coz i think it might be 6x8 or whatever it is.
Street Sniper 07-12-2005, 04:34 PM Yeah, if you take it out and bring it with you it'll make life a lot easier. Be sure to post what size it ends up being.
will do, going to start taking the car apart tomorrow:)
ok i'm confused, my car has 6x9 but all sources state that it should be 6.5!!!
is my car special?:)

Remmy 07-21-2005, 10:09 AM 5x7 and 6x8 are known to be in domestic vehicles only. Dude, your rear speakers are 6x9's.
