When I had my fathers Range Rover for a week I ran into one of my buddies who has a stock BMW 325i. We were peacefully debating on who would smoke who... we didnt have anywhere to race so all we could do is spec out. He has a v6 engine which im guessing throws out around a little under 200 hp. His car probably weighs in around 2-3k pounds. And is rear wheel drive. It tops out around 140 mph. The rpm tops out at around 7 I believe
However, the Range Rover is kicking in an upwards of 360+ hp with its 4.6 liter BMW 7 series engine and not to mention the most advanced massed produced transmission in the world. It has 2 drive shafts. One for low and one for high, and then in high you can throw it in sport mode (which opens the fuel injector up to give the engine more food) and then play around with that quasi manual mode. The range rover easily weighs a little over 4k and is all wheel drive. I know for a fact, the Range Rover will top out at 9 rpm.
What do you guys think? I think the Range Rover would win. The range Rover will top out at around 130 mph.
Oh, if you want to see what a 'Saleen' like Range Rover will do go here: www.overfinch.com and look for the video link in the page (not hard to find).
Is your dad's a special series Range Rover, the only specs i could find online were for a 4.4 L with 280 some odd horse? I did find out tho, that the BMW has 184 hp, and weighs 3219lbs. So, that being said, you have double the horsepower, but hes got you by about a grand in the weight category. I honestly think it would be a close call, but i'm going to say the 7 series engine with the added goodies listed above, and awd would take the race. Its definitely a personal, halfway educated guess/opinion, as i've never been behind the wheel of either of these machines.
YAY! My two cents!

huh... maybe I got my facts bass awkwards... I think I got it confused with the new specs.
aaahhhh i see... Well if it IS the 4.4 pushing 280, i would say that it would still be close, the weight factor would play a much bigger role. Dammit, i'm so intrigued now that you guys HAVE to run them just so i can find out.

Range Rover. Made by Land Rover. And yes, there are really people out there who actually think that Range Rover and Land Rover are 2 completly differnt companies when Range Rover is just a model.
