Default Racing

I went out to the local raceway here last night and didn't run very well, I think [:@] It was my first time out there with pretty much a stock '95 EX. I think my main problem was my shift points. Any advice on those or where your shift points are normally around. Thanks.

launch high, something like 5grand, then shift right at redline. You want to stay in your "powerband"

I was starting off around 2500 so I would peel out so much, but the car kinda bounced at the start so I let out a little air in my front tires to get a little more traction. I will try starting out around 5K next time. Thanks Polo.

I was running about 16.5 in the 1/4 NTX. Hopefully, as soon as I get my headers and new cat and muffler it should increase my time somewhat. What do you think?

What other modifications do recommend besides exhaust that could possibly speed up the car?

yeah, 16.5 is pretty good. ive seen a lot of exs running low to mid 17s.and unless you are running slicks, lowering your tire pressure just makes the center of the contact patch cup up away from the ground, stick real close to street pressures on the tires. dont go below about 25psi. yeah, i launched around 3k with my stock dx motor and i got 16.6, so i think thats about where you should try. also, look into poly motor mount inserts, they will stop the wheel hop you are talking about. and on a torquless honda, a LITTLE bit of wheelspin is good, it puts you into your powerband faster, so when they hook up, you are ready to go.

Trap Speeds? LSD? This was my first time racing so I'm not very familiar with protocol. I have 98k on it right now. My 60' was getting better everytime I raced but I am not sure as far as shift points. At what RPMs I would get the most power for each gear.

Thanks Sacicons...I didn't know what to expect when I went out there. I was getting up to about 83mph in teh 1/4, but there were other Civic's out there reaching 99 and getting in the 15's. I need to find out there secret [:@]

sounds like b-series swaps. lsd is a limited slip differential, basically like posi on a muscle car. it puts power to both front tires, instead of just one, but its not a locker, or spool, which locks the same amount of power to both front wheels, not bad until you try to turn. and trap speeds are the speeds it says on your time slip. it should have 2 speeds, one at 1/8 mile and one at 1/4 mile. the one at the 1/4 is the one everyone likes to hear about. and 83 isnt bad. youll get there.
