i would like some instances of these vipers being unreliable? the national series that i run, has a viper class, with some of the running in the 8s...ford GTs have wheels falling off...what are the viper problems? and before you should try to make something up..i worked for a dodge service department for a while..

ORIGINAL: Roth_the_Dark_Lord And another thing about mustangs.... compare them to most other V8 cars out there and you'll discover they're rather lite weight... that's why they're so fast. they're notorious for having smaller v8s (compared to ohh....a corvette) but they wiegh less and make decent competition. YOU CAN"T compare them to civics when it comes to weight... civics were made for gas mileage people... don't forget! (sorry about all the posting here, i just keep reading and keep wanting to reply to dumb s**t people say, lol) a mustang weighs less than a vette????

I didn't say they way less than a vette, i said they have smaller motors... all i know is that everyone tells me that mustangs derive their speed from their curve weight, not raw power.... if you've ever driven one (yes... i have) you know that a good one can almost be hard to keep on the road. (v8+rwd+lite weight=hard to keep on road)...and for the love of god, i don't wanna have a crap ton of people jump on my case for this, ok? and about the vipers... I was told that by a guy who sells them.. he's the biggest mopar guy i know. He may have just been talking about the newer ones... or even just the older ones... he didn't specify... but he said he'd never own one...(he'll keep his dually, lol) Besides, hes a good, trustworthy guy.... he knows what hes talking about... he's into restoration of old muscle cars... anyways, he said theres too many people coming in to have their viper fixed. Parts were almost literally falling off... but go ahead and believe what you wanna believe... besides, there's better bang for your buck out there! If you bought a new Gt mustang (300 hp, under $20,000) you wouldn't have to deal with the 10 mpg a viper gets.... for only 150-200 more hp (at BEST).... anyways... i was just statin what I have heard.. and what I believe... besides.... Dodges aren't the most reliable cars on earth.. now are they? i'd like to hear a decent argument on that... Sure everyone has their screw-ups... Ford Maverick.... Chevy Citation... Dodge Neons are S**T when it comes to reliability... and resale value.... Please don't jump on my case for the things I have said... I know how some of you guys LOVE to do that... just keep it TONED down. THANKS. Roth

find me someplace that sells a mustang GT for under 20,000... The vipers that he is talking about are probably people who are beating the piss out of them, and in that case, any car will have problems. I currently own 5 dodges. MY DD has 53,000 on it, and the only thing that i have had to replace was brake pads...im still on STOCK rotors..and i beat that car..its been autocrossing and has done LOTS of drag racing. i had made probably 30 passes down the dragstrip in it before it was out of its break-in period. the white car in my picture below, the engine is original stock bottom end..from 1969, and with 87 octane, its pushing a 3800lb car down the track in the mid to low 12 second range...before the current rebuild...my old dodge truck has 220,000 miles on it, and i have driven it all over the northeast...and the newer truck has 114,000 on it, and is pretty modded, and hasnt had any troubles... *knock on wood* RWD=light=hard to keep on the road....that=a driver who doesnt know what he is doing. and no offense..but "a guy who sells them"..that makes him a car salesman, and having worked in the auto field my whole life, salesmen are the biggest BS'ers in the world.... i am a car enthusiast, and the members here will probably tell you that i give Every make a fair shake...but i am a dodge driver, and there is a reason behind that...ive never had one fail me (that wasnt my own fault..i had a 90 shadow that did have an oil change in 3 years...didnt work out too well)..if its a debate about reliability, i have all the ammo you would want to hear...
