Wow you guys need to back off the stangs. I have a 87 GT 5 speed with a full exausht and under drive pullies and my car runs 14's all day long in south florida with 98% humidity. I think the 6banger the origional poster beat was a bad driver or was his first time at the track. I will lay 500 on the table now and race any one of you with an exausht or equal mods to me and take your money. I put $900 into my car to make it run 14 flat those werent even power mods for another $500 i can add a cam and some roller rockers and be in the low 13's. Dont knock a car you dont know much about. 17's are pathetic. My girlfriends z24 cavalier runs 16's every day of the week. My offer is on the table anyone who wants to run ill go. Maybe you guys should throw your money at a car that will show something at the track for the money put into it....

Maby my fellow mustang guys are being a little agressive here but what they are trying to say is that there is some real ignorance about Mustangs. Some of you respect and show knowlege of our kind and we apreciate it, and belive it or not, respect your kind. I have known some guys with little civics packing big turbo's and a good amount of money and running some pretty strong runs. I also know of many Mustangs which are pure embarrasment to our kind. There are several types of mustangs, The classic style (64.5-73), then the bad memory of the Mustang II (74-78), then the Foxbody (79-93), SN95 which as regular (94-98) then New Edge (99-04) which the SN's are also foxbodies, just larger and heavier, finally the DEW S197 05+

The "new GT40" isn't a GT40, it's just the Ford GT. Of course the controll arms are tearing out of them, they have the power to do so. High power cars don't break because the are POS's, they break because of the power they make.
Mustang = Heavy, not really. Yes the new one's are, a 03-04 Cobra convertable can weigh in at 4000lbs, my pickup truck only weights about 4000lbs. My foxbody in GT Hatchback form weighed around 3200 stock, it is in a rebuild right now, my goal now is 2600lbs. It's not that hard to get there either. Pushrods can rev. A buddy of mine has a 351W stroked to 424CID (4.060 bore, 4.15 stroke) and the engine revvs to 9000rpm. 310 (302 .060 overbore) foxbodies are breaking into the 9's in the 1/4 all motor.

Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go, how fast can you afford to go? That is true with all types. The Import vs Domestic is kind of dead now. Today it's the one's that are real, and then there are the posers. I don't care if you have a 17 second civic or a 8 second mustang, it doesn't make you any more or any less, it's all in the attitude.

first off, i also admin a large mustang forum, and there are guys there with V6s running in the mid 17s...into the low 18s...

i have less than 5000 in my car, and i was running mid 12s, on 87 octane, , tipping the scales at just under 3800lbs... prior to the current mild rebuilt...

my daily driver is running very low 16s, and is sniffing out 15s..stock auto...

i find it humorous that mustang guys come here seeming so offended that members here are talking trash when they actually beat one...meanwhile if you go to ANY mustang forum...its ricer this and ricer that...

Vipers are peices of s**t.. no reliability at all... My friend's brother sells them. I would rather have a mustang over a damn Camaro any day... well depending of course... no V6 mustangs over a 69 or 70 camaro. Duh... but the GT500 will decimate......most.

Also, I'm not a HUGE nissan fan... but the new skyline will be NOTHING to sneeze at... it'd be a damn good race to put a GT500 against a new skyline...whenever they come out that is. anyone know the truth behind whats gonna be under the hood of the next supra? that'll be a beast too... i've read in magazines toyota HAS thrown around the idea of a twin turbo V-8....bet it'll be a hefty price to boot.(same with the GT500... not as badly though.... and just as much so if not MORE with the skyline...it being a Japanese Super car and all)

I totally agree... they break s**t cuz of the power... plus.. pushrods can roar like a mother. I have a 1985 Bronco with a 351W high output... headers, almost no exhaust (lol) an Weiland intake, 4 barrel holley and a few other odds and ends... it stomps the little a$$ wholes around here with their camaros and s**T.... it's lifted with 31 inch tall tires to boot!

And another thing about mustangs.... compare them to most other V8 cars out there and you'll discover they're rather lite weight... that's why they're so fast. they're notorious for having smaller v8s (compared to ohh....a corvette) but they wiegh less and make decent competition. YOU CAN"T compare them to civics when it comes to weight... civics were made for gas mileage people... don't forget! (sorry about all the posting here, i just keep reading and keep wanting to reply to dumb s**t people say, lol)
