I have a 2002 civic, with about 24K miles. It has beeing making a weird clanking sound when i break. It usually happens when i back up, and then when i go forward. I have gone to honda, but they say its "normal" it doesn't sound normal! does anyone know what this could be? is it normal? thx

Is it still under warranty? If so then take it in and demand to have the problem fixed. haha, thats what i'd do.

where exactly does the sound come from? (near the wheel, the back of the vehicle, one side, both sides, etc.) is it a manual or an automatic? more details are needed if you want any help.

the sound is comming from the front. I have taken the car back to honda but they claim its a "normal" sound! they say it happens on CRX's even more. It just doesn't sound right! BTW i live in Fremont, CA

maybe you should talk to one of their honda brake techs about it and ask what exactly it is making the noise and what can be done about. i don't think we can help unless we can test drive your car. sorry.

If you're still having problems, let me know. I'm not to far from fremont (i'll test drive it, if you don't mind me doing burnouts...:D)
