Ok i got a stock 1996 dx and I was board so I went to the late night drags down at Portland International Raceway (PIR) and wanted to get laughed at. This was my first time racing. I got beat by every thing there and it was like 90 outside. My times you ask

17.485 @ 79.85mph

but my reaction times is why i am posting my fastest .055 my slowest .098 and this was my first time.
If only i had a faster car and more $$$ for practice.

So you can laugh if you want but I beat 2 vehicles one was a lifted truck and the other was a new landrover.

but you can comment on the r/t i am hoping for some feedback

damn nice RTs, and not bad for a stock dx, now, just start saving for that turbo kit:D

Turbo that is about $3000 to much the car only cost me 4k and thanks i am proud of the R/T's. Oh and i am building my car for performance in the twistie back roads that means i think i need to be more like a spords car not an econo box my e/t's are the least of my worrys but i do want to run a low 15 or hi 14 eventually

Is that a manual tranny or auto? Those RTs are great, esp on a manual.

Dude nobody is gonna laugh at you here. I would say ~ 85% of our members are I/H/E or less and couldn't beat that time by much if at all. Now you have your baseline. Everytime you get a mod on there you have something to measure your results by.

What the word on a Mini-me? What mods are you looking at?

If you go next time, maybe do some free stuff to get that time down. Take out your back seats, spare and jack, passenger seat, and only go with a 1/4 tank of gas. Bump your timing up a few *'s and run high octane. Take out your air filter (you should be Ok for just a few runs on the track w/o one). Let a little air out of the tires. Hell, get under there and take off your cat and run an open header. But mainly lightening. Shhh! It's our weapon.

Any other suggestions?

You do those few freebies- I bet you could get it into the 16's.

damn. now thats the right attitude! sticky tires, a set of sway bars, and a full coilover system with camber kits! mmm, good times, good times.

last year, my only time out in the stratus, i was running slow, of course, and there were only a few vehicles slower than myself. the bright side, like yours was in the first threee rounds of eliminations, i had a 501 lights (500 tree)...i made it to the finals, against the only vehicle in street stock that was slower than me...a 4 cyl automatic s10...and the big board spit out a 498...[:@]

nice reaction times brokenarm...

Newer Land Rover? If its the Discovery ok. But if it was a Range Rover, Range Stormer, or the LR3 it should have smoked you sensless... maybe there was a terrible driver in there.

i believe that those are powered by BMW 4.5L V8.

Back to the subject. My very first car, a '92 corolla ran a 19sec 1/4 mile, and my best time was 18.5sec. That was truly an embarassment. I was planning on swaping a JDM 4AGZE in it, but a FWD platform just doesn't do it for me anymore. I would definately jump on an AE86 though if I saw the right one.

.055 is 5 thousands of a second from a perfect tree, nice job

I don't have a race track in New York. I think the closest in Long Island but I'm not sure. They are building one in Staten Island so as soon as it's up, I'll also be able to check my time. Until then, I'll say, my car is okay but not where I want to be.

Yup, but not the LR3 and Range Rover Sport. They run on 4.4 V8's and a couple of the models of the LR3 run 4.0 V6. And I need to make a correction. The Range Stormer is a prototype (I dont know why I put it there) I meant to say a Range Rover Sport. Also the new Range Rover fleets run on Jag engines. Some are even supercharged [sm=drooldude.gif]. My old man has the Bimmer engine though.

Specs for those of you who want to know (and why I think a land rover couldnt have been beaten with a descent driver) :

Range Rover: 32 valve V8 305 hp @5750 RPM (Supercharged model: 400 hp @ 5750 RPM)
325 lb-ft torque @4000 RPM (Supercharged model: 420 lb-ft torque @ 3500 rpm)

Range Rover S : 4.4L 300-hp V8 (Supercharged: 4.2L 390-hp V8)

LR3 4.4 V6: 216 hp

LR3 4.4 V8 SE / HSE : 300 hp

P.S. No flame intended : )

What an idiot! Why would you trash a land rover like that? It needs to be in the mud, not on the track. If I had the S/C RR Sport, Id be taking it to the track.
