welp, i know people on here don't condone street racing, and i dunno if what happened tonight could be classified as such. while driving around with my bf, i saw a new jetta turning onto the street i was on, and farting on down the road. so, i caught up to him, and switched lanes so we were driving side by side. and wouldn't you know, the light at the next intersection turned red. so then my adrenaline starts going, and i know this guy is thinking what i'm thinking. the light turns green, and i take off and hit the speed limit (45 mph) and lay off the gas. meanwhile, jetta man is lagging behind. so, i switch lanes again, so i'm in his lane and ahead. a few seconds later, mr. jetta comes up on me and switches lanes, and then blows past me. to me, all he had was a phenomenonally loud car, and not much backing it up. I see nothing wrong with accelerating to the speed limit.

Nice kill. Put 'em in their place.

Yeah its street racing but up to the speed limit I see nothing wrong with, its the ppl who are screaming at 90 on city streets that cause problems. Nice kill though gotta put them fart machine VW's in thier place. Good job.

vw drivers are cocky SOBs. it felt good. and, i do consider it to have been a street race. but, it wasn't a residential area, and i didn't break the speed limit. not that i'm trying to justify it, but i only do this once in a blue moon. and, i must say, it felt reeeeally good to win. :D

Yeah I'll "race" people from stoplights up to the speed limit or so, but that's about it. I have my clean driving record to protect ;)

Nah, I don't see nothing wrong since you didn't pass the speed limit. I do consider it a street race but with restrictions on your part anyways. Nice kill.

i dont believe theres anything agenst the law about acclerating to the posted speed limit......i wouldnt consider it street racing, just quickly getting up to the speed limit with a vw just happening to be doing the same right next to you..

back before I got my license I had an opportunity to ask a cop would accelerating to the speed limit as fast as your car can be illegal? He said anything that will get his attention will get him to posibly pull me over. Well, every cops different, besides this one was a jack.

everyone street races i don't care who u are if u are into speed u do itdid, not does.

and accelerating to the speed limit can be classified as "rapid acceleration" or "display of power" both are ticketable. and if theres a car next to you doing it as well, it can be classified as a "speed contest" whether you speed or not.

yea, also here its considered "wreckless driving" you know, hauling arse to the speed limit. Even though I do it alot, it is wreckless driving.

yenno....i think it's dumb that you can get a ticket for rapid acceleration. it's really all relative to the car, too. lol, i used to drive a tercel before this (i can hear you all laughing, and it's hurting my feelings ;)). i would accelerate fast all the time, but no one ever knew it. i swear, my ex is like a freakin caddy compared to the toyota i had.

yeah, tercels are crap. sorry. but hey, i used to have a ford escort, and i thought it was pretty quick[&:]

oh you know i was tearing it up in the tercel...with it's hot 4-speed manual tranny. it was a reliable car, just not much of a looker or fun to drive. want to know something sad? there are people in my town who put body kits on their tercels.... [:'(]

Reckless Driving Or Careless Driving. Endangering the welfare of citizens. As a criminal justice major i can tell you this, act like a jerkoff and u get a ticket. Ive been pulled over at high speeds, was courteous, polite, and made sure i let the cop know i was trying to get on the job, and i got away with it. If a cop wants to write u a ticket, he will. There are a million things he can say he stopped you for. You were swirving, you chaged lanes w.o signaling..........etc.
