Default Are all timing belts created equal?

Alright so its time to replace the timing belt on my 95 dx. Ive called around to advance/oreillys, etc. and have been quoted $35 for one. The question is should i go for the honda one instead of whatever brand the $35 dollar one is?

yes. Get a genuine HONDA timing belt. There are no substitutions.

timing belts are MUCH more than a belt. Say u go for the 35$ belt, and it snaps......if u have a SOHC youre going to have to pay around 900 bucks for a head rebuild. Im getting my belt next week......FROM HONDA..........change it now with a honda belt and u dont have to worry about it for another 60-70K.........id feel uneasy with the other crappo ones. Whats another 30 bucks? GO WITH HONDA.

GO WITH HONDA.
Yes, I agree with pcupo, the timing belt isn't anything to get cheap on. Besides, the price difference isn't all that different for an important component.

My old neighbor used to work at the dealership as a mechanic. When time came to change mine on my Accord he told me to go to Pep Boys and buy the belt there because it was the same belt just missing the painted "Honda" on it. No problems since. Just my 2 cents.

The "Pepboys belt" might have been a good belt, but what we're tryin to say is you could have bought another belt from someplace and it might have turned out to be crap. Moral of the story is.......to be safe, buy a Honda belt, or you might end up with a crappy belt. Just my 3 cents.
