it has a higher flow filter and a smooth pipe that help smooth air flow into the engine, allowing the engine to pull air in more easily, so basically, the engine doesnt use as much power to pull it in. a honda runs pretty efficient as is, so dont expect too much, but youull probably see 1-5hp, depending on the intake and what motor its going on.

Hey man, I don't know what generation you got, but short rams aren't worth the money man. I took off the air intake restricter pipe in my 88 1.5 L, and that was magic. It allows air to go right into the air box to meet the filter, rather than having to travel 2 and 1/2 feet to it. I don't know how much jump it gave my baby, but I felt it. I'd try that before you throw down some cash on a short ram. REMEMBER TO KEEP AN AIR FILTER SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE! -not saying you're dumb, just a warning if you are.

are you crazy? not worth it?

With a filter in an airbox the intake air comes in a tiny hole about 3" in diameter then through a paper filter, with an intake it's barely restricted and comes through a giant cone.

Put it this way: Your running a marathon... do you want to breathe like normal (intake) or through a straw (stock airbox w/filter) for thousands of miles? Its up to you.

Yes I'm crazy. For a suggested "5-7 horsepower gain" which will probably never see the wheels, I'll stick with my set up rather than throw down the cuts to have a cool metal pipe with a K&N airfilter on it in my engine.
